Accelerating the travel
The original plan for day 7 was to drive from Stockholm to Umeå, a town about 600 km away in the north-east of Sweden, make a stopover the next day in Rovaniemi (Finland) and then in Alta (Norway) and drive from there to Nordkapp. But the weather forecast for Nordkapp was bad for Friday, when I wanted to go there, but it looked good for Wednesday. Without further ado, I decided to try to reach Nordkapp in two days instead of four.
This meant that I would have to drive over 1000 km per day for the next two days. I was not sure if that would be possible, but I decided to give it a go.
I had not chosen a fixed place for today. I just wanted to ride as far as I could and then find a place to spend the night. I managed to drive far into the north of Sweden, about 50 km before the Finnish border, where I stopped in the small town of Kalix and found a hotel for the night.

The distances in Sweden are huge. In the south there are large forests and a few farming villages, in the north there is more and more forest. The temperatures fluctuated between 12 and 19 degrees Celsius and the rain was also not missing on this day. I managed 1003 km that day and was not really tired at the end of the day, so I rode a few kilometers around the town and the surrounding area, where I took the pictures above. It was already after 11pm when I returned to the hotel.
Total trip counter was showing 3 163 km so far.
