Starting the tour
The eagerly awaited day has finally arrived. My wife and I set off on the 3-week Greece 2025 tour that I had carefully planned in advance. The tour will be about 4,500 km long. I read a few guidebooks for motorcyclists on what to see in Greece and what to expect. I planned day trips and stopovers as well as accommodation options and also made a cost calculation.
But it didn't start well. After we had been traveling for about an hour and a half, I remembered that I had forgotten my phone at home! Well, we can't go on without my phone. An emergency call to my mother-in-law followed, she would take my phone and drive to meet us, we would turn around and meet her. Another hour later I had my phone, but we had already covered 200 km and were barely half an hour from home and still about 650 km from our destination for the day in southern Dalmatia in Croatia.
The weather was still a little cooler in the morning, so we put on our rain gear until it got warmer. The road conditions were good and we made the first stop in Metlike, just before the Croatian border, where we freshened up and took off the rain gear and some extra clothes as it got warmer. In Croatia, I switched to the highway as quickly as possible.
Our butts were still not hardened and demanded a break after a little over 2 hours of driving. We also needed to refuel, so we stopped at the gas station on the motorway somewhere close to Zadar to fill up and stretch our legs.
Interesting encounter
A man from Germany parked his BMW GS next to us and I struck up a conversation with him. He told me that he was on a 6-week tour and had already been to Slovenia and would continue the tour in Dalmatia and then Bosnia. I told him that we were on our way to Greece. He smiled and told us that he was Greek and if we needed any tips on what to see. Of course, we immediately agreed and he suggested a few places worth seeing on the route we had planned. This meant that I had to adjust my plans a little.
We continued our discussion, took a few photos and exchanged phone numbers, and then we each went our separate ways.
The rest of the ride was beautiful, with pleasant temperatures for motorcycling. We had to take a few more breaks to stretch our legs and give our butts a rest. Shortly before nightfall, we arrived at our first destination in Slano near Dubrobnik. I wandered around the area, but Boža went straight to bed.
