Exploring magnificent Meteora in the morning

We booked a morning tour of the Meteora monasteries, built atop magnificent rock formations. Some are truly incredible. The guide told us it took decades to transport materials to the tops of the rocks. These monasteries are now a top tourist attraction.

The morning began with low clouds, which meant we might not be able to take many photos. Luckily, the weather improved, and we were able to capture stunning pictures.

The trip counter stopped at 3471 kilometers in Igoumentisa.

Back to Kalampaka

We returned to Kalampaka in the early afternoon to see the town a little better.

On the road to Igoumenitsa

After packing the motorbike, we headed toward Igoumenitsa. The first half of the route took us on winding mountain roads. There was quite a bit of traffic, including trucks, but the road was wide and it was easy to overtake them. The second half of the route was on the motorway.

We arrived in Igoumenitsa in the late afternoon, found the hotel, explored Igoumenitsa on foot, enjoyed beautiful sunset, found a restaurant, and had dinner.

Check-in for the ferry

Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The receptionist explained where to check in for the ferry, which saved us an hour in the morning: instead of arriving at the ferry port at 2:30 am, we could now arrive at 3:30 am.

Another interesting encounter

An old BMW K100 with French license plates was parked in the garage. We met its owner as well: Jose from France told us that the motorcycle is 37 years old. He has owned it for 20 years and during this time he has had zero issues with it. It was a really advanced motorcycle at the time and even today it looks and rides well. It was already equipped with ABS.
