Another beautiful day and some more sightseeing of Trondheim

After yesterday’s crappy day, this day was completely different. I started the day with an excellent breakfast at the Comfort Hotel. Another special feature of this hotel is that you can check out until noon, whereas in most other hotels you have to do so by 11am. Later, I explored Trondheim a little with my camera. Trondheim is quite a big city with a nice city center. I climbed up to the city fortress and took a few photos from there. The weather had turned out really nice.

I returned to the hotel around 1pm, where I left my things in the luggage room and then picked up my motorcycle from a nearby parking garage. I then started to load my bike and met an Italian motorcyclist from Turin who was heading towards Nordkapp. I left Trondheim at around 2pm.

Stop in Kristiansund

My first stop today was Kristiansund. On the way there I took a break and found some ripe raspberries. I arrived in Kristiansund at around 5:45 pm and decided to eat fish, so I found a restaurant where I ate a traditional fish menu. It was delicious.

Before leaving Kristiansund I stopped at the marina and made a video call home, where my father-in-law was celebrating his birthday and the whole family was gathered so I could talk to them too.

Atlantic Ocean Road

My next destination was the famous Atlantic Ocean Road, where I made several stops for videos and photos and where I clumsily dropped the bike – again! Luckily there was a German couple there and the man came over to me and helped me pick up the bike. A few more photos followed and then I was on my way to Molde, where I had reserved a room in a student dormitory.

The student dormitory where I spent the night is on the side of a hill, about 200 meters from the sea, and you have a great view of the nearby islands. It was 10 pm when I arrived and took my luggage to my room. It was still light outside, so I cleaned and greased the chain on my bike.

I had only ridden 293 km today and the total counter showed 7 436 km.

In my room, I checked my emails and wrote a few travel blogs. Tomorrow, I have the Troll’s Ladder (Trollstiegen) on the plan. Due to falling rocks, the serpentine part of the road is closed, but the viewing plateau is open, so I will come from the other direction and then drive back to visit the village of Geiranger, a place at the end of the fjord where big cruise ships come and unload tons of tourists. I am not expecting much from this. Tomorrow the weather is supposed to be good, but heavy rain is forecast for Friday, and then I have about a 6-hour drive to Bergen ahead of me. Tomorrow I will try to camp outside.
