Remains of the Temple of Apollo at Vassai
After leaving Olympia, we turned off onto the winding mountain roads towards the central Peloponnese to visit the Temple of Apollo recommended by Vassili. The road was super winding and I enjoyed it. After about an hour we reached the temple. It is located at an altitude of over 1000 meters above sea level, in the middle of nowhere. I can only wonder how the temple was built and how the materials were transported to this place.
The temple is well preserved and covered with a large tent to protect it from further decay. Due to the altitude, the temperatures are about 5 degrees Celsius colder than in the valley.

Pylos
Pylos is a small coastal town on the first (west) finger of the Pelloponese. We just made a small rest stop on the hill above the town to take some photos.

The trip counter stopped at 2359 kilometers at the end of the day.
Methoni castle
The town of Methoni lies about 30 minute drive southwards from Pylos. There is a big castle which we were interested to see. As we arrived there we found out that the castle is closed on Tuesday, and today was Tuesday!
So we just walked alons some castle fenced walls and then soon continued towards our finad destination for the day.

Koroni
Koroni is a small town on the first (western) finger of Peloponnese. There is a mighty castle above the town. There are still turists, but it is obvious that the main season has ended.
