Hike to Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock)

The weather forecast looked pretty good, so I decided to hike to Preikestolen. This is a famous rock 600 meters above the fjord. It took me about 30 minutes by motorcycle to get there, and it takes about an hour and a half on foot to reach it.

The path is very well maintained, paved with stones, with rock steps where necessary and some wooden paths over marshy areas.

Breath-taking views

There were lots of tourists walking up and down. I would say that several thousand people visited the trail that day. The path to Preikestolen seemed more like a “highway". But the view from this rock is really breathtaking. I took lots of photos and helped some other people take selfies, asking them to take a selfie of me in return. Some people, as you can see, did all kind of things for an Instagram post.

Meeting with some compatriots

At the top, I mingled with the people and saw two couples with dogs speaking Slovenian. I joined them and they told me that they were from Slovenj Gradec and had traveled through the Baltic countries in their camper van, had made it to Nordkapp and were now returning south. We chatted for a while and shared our travel experiences.

Later, I climbed further up the rocks to a plateau, where I got out the drone and took some bird's eye shots.

After my return, I sat on a bike again and drove to Sola, a suburb city near Stavanger to see some other friends and have dinner with them. They prepared some traditional food with meat balls. Then they took me around some beaches nearby in their car. It was getting late and I headed back to Tau.

I drove 110 km today, which is a total of 8 286 km on the whole trip so far.
