Moving on to Denmark
nother long-distance day on the highways. Today’s destination was Copenhagen, Denmark. The weather was partly sunny, between 19 and 21 degrees Celsius. Traffic was smooth, except around Berlin. It was windy in northern Germany, so I could only drive up to 130 km/h.
I took the ferry from Rostock in Germany to Gedser in Denmark. The ferry took about two hours. I bought a ticket for an all-you-can-eat buffet on board for €28.

Then I continued on towards Copenhagen. The weather changes quickly there, and after half an hour in Denmark, black clouds rolled in and rained down on us for about half an hour.
I reached my destination without any problems, unpacked and made plans for the next day.
Accommodation in Copenhagen is very expensive. I couldn’t find a single room on Booking.com for less than €110 per night. So I kept looking and found accommodation on Google Maps for €75 with breakfast. So I took it. I was pretty lucky. The room was nothing special, there were 5 rooms for rent with 3 shared bathrooms and a shared kitchen.
I travelled 634 km today on land (not counting the travel distance on the ferry). The total trip counter was showing 1 469 km.
However, I had an interesting experience with my room. In the early morning I went to the shared bathroom. I forgot to set the key lock to push-open, so I locked myself out of my room! Other people were still sleeping and I didn’t have any other option as to sit in a chair in the hallway and read National Geographic which was there until the landlady brought me the breakfast in the morning. And she really made a great breakfast!
