I wanted to travel from Sijenica in Serbia to Montenegro and drive through the Tara Canyon. However, a waiter in Sijenica told me that there was a plain near Sijenica where you could see wild horses. It was in a different direction, but you could supposedly drive to Montenegro from the other end, so I drove there.
It was raining, so I didn't take any photos. The landscape was really beautiful. But I didn't see any wild horses. As I got closer to Montenegro, the road got narrower and worse. Soon it became a gravel road, then a dirt track and finally a kind of country lane. I was about to turn back when an off-road vehicle came by and I asked if it was possible to ride to Montenegro this way. He looked at me and my bike and said, yes, you can probably make it with this bike. Follow me, I'll drive to my weekend house and show you the way. So I followed him. The road we were riding on was bad, we crossed many puddles, some over 4 meters long and 30 centimeters deep. No fun with a fully loaded bike.
At one point he stopped, pointed in one direction and said go that way and you'll get to Montenegro. I rode for some time, the road turned into a meadow and my GPS indicated that I was already in Montenegro. I decided it was too risky to continue, so I turned around and somehow made it back to Sijenica and then continued as I had previously planned.
The rain got heavier and I decided not to drive along the Tara Canyon, but only as far as the famous Đurđevića Tara Bridge. As I drove there, I passed a restaurant with a vintage police car parked in front of it. Pretty cool!
I changed my plans to drive through Tara Canyon. That didn't make sense in this weather. So I just stopped for the bridge, took a few photos, had something to eat and waited for the next rain shower to stop.
