Daily boat trip

We booked a daily boat trip to see the beaches and towns of Lefkada as well as some other attractions. I booked online but later found out that the agency I booked with was just reselling a trip from another agency and charging a commission. Had I not booked online and just come to the port where about 5 companies offer similar day trips, I would have saved 20 euros.

The weather was ideal. Almost 30 degrees Celsius, but with very low humidity, so the temperature was easy to bear. And there was always a bit of a breeze, which made the heat bearable.

Stunningly beautiful Egremni Beach

Our first stop was Egremni Beach on the southwestern part of Lefkada island. The captain landed the ship by pushing the front part into the sand and then let the people out in front fo the ship, or jump into the sea from the back of the ship. We had about one hour for swimming.

The island of Kefalonia

Our next stop was in Kefalonia, a neighboring island, where we stopped in Fiskardo, a small village, and did some sightseeing, shopping, eating, etc.

These tourist boats bring a lot of tourists to this place where they spend some money and then move on. About 5 or 6 similar boats were already there when we arrived. Our captain was a funny guy who entertained us with his comments. He spoke Greek, English, Albanian (I think), Italian, and then there was someone who spoke Bulgarian. It turned out that we had a lot of Bulgarians on the ship.

The island of Ithaca

The next island was Ithaca, where we also found a nice beach and had a chance so swim some more.

The Papanikolis cave

This large limestone cave has served as a shelter for boats for centuries. During the Second World War, the Greek submarine Papanikolis is said to have been hidden in the cave, giving the cave its current name.

The island of Scorpios

Our last stop was near the island of Skorpios, which is privately owned by Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev, who bought it from Aristotle Onassis' granddaughter for 153 million dollars in 2013 and turned it into a luxury resort. You can't see that from the outside - it almost looks like an uninhabited island. Our guide said that around 50 people work on the island.

Once we arrived back to the port, we bought some groceries on the way home. I also cleaned and lubricated the chain on the motorcycle before dark.
